Porch lifts are sometimes referred to as vertical platform lifts or deck lifts, and are usually used in applications where a wheelchair ramp is either impractical or unwanted. They are fairly simple devices which consist of a platform which travels up and down a tower to move the user from one level to another.
Porch lifts come in two models, lifting to a height of 48 inches or 72 inches. A typical platform size would be 36 inches wide by 60 inches deep.
Porch lifts can be installed outside in the elements, or enclosed in a shaftway or garage. Porch lifts are commony used in churches, town halls, schools and residential settings.
